Endless procedural expeditions in ENVARA
Take a contract at the expedition board and drop into a freshly generated map - branching paths, monster camps, and a boss at the far end. No two runs are laid out the same way.
What are expeditions
An expedition is a self-contained run outside the main open world: you pick up a contract at the expedition board, and the game generates a new map for you to explore - branching paths, monster camps along the way, and a boss guarding the far end. It is a separate space from Start Valley, the Wild Forest and the Swamp, built fresh for the run.
Procedurally generated maps
Expeditions currently come in two families, Wild Forest and Swamp, each with its own look and monster roster. The layout itself is generated per run rather than hand-placed, so the path you walk, where the camps sit, and where the boss waits changes every time you go in.
Tiers and the endless ladder
There are five hand-tuned tiers to start, each a step up in difficulty and reward. Past that, expeditions continue on an endless ladder that keeps scaling - there is no fixed "final" tier, just how deep you are willing to push.
Weekly modifiers
A weekly modifier rotates for everyone and changes how a run plays out that week - Blood Moon, Week of Titans, The Great Hunt, Golden Trail and Beast Frenzy are the modifiers currently in the rotation. Everyone on the server runs the same modifier at the same time.
Contracts and the expedition board
You take a contract at the expedition board to start a run. If you log out mid-expedition, your run is still waiting for you when you come back - you do not lose progress just by disconnecting.
Loot and progression
Every drop is generated rather than fixed: a rarity ladder running from Common through Magic, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic into endless Ascendant bands, with affixes rolled on top of a base item. Monsters get tougher the deeper an expedition goes, and the loot they carry scales with them. A bestiary codex in your journal tracks every creature you have killed and every drop you have actually seen.
Playing expeditions with a party
Expeditions are not a solo-only mode: party up to five people, propose an expedition together, and go in as a group.
